The VECTOR 3,000 SCFM Catalytic Oxidizer (CatOx) controls gas stream vents from a number of process units, including from hood or enclosure vents of specific machines and from sweep air vents on tanks with an inlet control damper. The exhaust gas streams contain methanol, non-methanol TAP (toxic air pollutant), and non-TAP VOC. A sealed ducting system conveys the inlet gas stream to the CatOx and includes knock out drop legs for removal of liquid condensation before the oxidizer. The Catalytic Oxidizer will destroy the VOC emissions from the process units with 98% destruction rate efficiency (DRE).
Catalytic treatment of VOC's and other air pollutants works by reacting the harmful air pollutants over a specially designed catalyst where VOC's are converted to CO2, water vapor (H2O), and usable heat. These harmless byproducts are passed through a heat exchanger where the gas streams energy is transferred to the incoming exhaust.
The CPI Catalytic Oxidizer utilizes a high velocity mixing chamber at the burner, which forces flame impingement and turbulence to occur, providing excellent mixing of the air stream. By designing for the highest mixing, the CPI CatOx system can deliver the highest temperature uniformity before the catalyst bed and ensure that 100% of the catalyst is efficiently oxidizing the VOCs.
Catalytic Products International (CPI) designed, fabricated, and supplied the catalytic oxidizer, including booster fan, exhaust stack, fresh air purge damper. CPI provided engineering services, drawings, and in-office support to ensure installation of the catalytic oxidizer and associated equipment by the customer and its contractors complied with the bid specifications. Following installation CPI provided process start-up of the CatOx in addition to customer operational and maintenance training.
