This long-term CPI customer relocated four (4) treater lines as part of a facility consolidation. Unfortunately, the existing Catalytic Oxidizer which had been controlling these (4) four lines had reached the end of its useful life. Therefore, the decision was made to install a new 15,000 SCFM Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) to control the VOC emissions from the (4) four relocated lines along with the existing (4) four treaters on site.
Thermal treatment of VOCs and other air pollutants works by a simple reaction of the harmful hydrocarbon-based air pollutants with oxygen and heat. In this environment, the VOCs are oxidized to form harmless inert by-products like CO2, water vapor (H2O), and usable heat. These harmless by-products are released to the atmosphere or used within primary or secondary energy recovery techniques to further lower the operational costs.
CPI worked closely with the customer to minimize the downtime associated with the installation of the Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO). CPI delivered a fully skid mounted, pre-piped and pre-wired RTO with the media installed on a customer supplied concrete pad. In addition, CPI provided the exhaust stack, a remote HMI panel, a standalone treater volume control system, and a port for a future hot gas bypass system.
CPI provided on-site supervision to minimize the downtime associated with the installation of the RTO. This approach ensured that the entire system was installed correctly, and the facility was back up and producing product with minimal downtime. A monthly, semiannual, and annual preventative maintenance contract was also implemented to maintain the equipment and provide uptime reliability.
